This coating goes way beyond ISO 9227 standard requirements, offering 840 hours of red rust protection. Compared to a staple-lock coupling, ilok is safer and more efficient! 162Ĥ A new coupling making longwall connections easier, faster and safer Boosted durability with Gates TuffCoat Xtreme plating To further improve the lifetime of ilok couplings and adaptors in the highly corrosive mining environment, they are plated with Gates TuffCoat Xtreme. ![]() Abrasion or damage to nearby hoses is prevented by the absence of sharp ends of protruding staples. Ease of use: easy-to-understand design, quick to connect and disconnect by hand Safe disengagement: helps to avoid dangerous disconnecting situations and dissipates residual pressure away from workers Time and labour savings: reduces average disconnect time per coupling by up to 90% Robustness: secure cable distributes forces along full length of flange area, no uneven staple stress or deformation Extended lifetime: allows relative rotation to counter torsional stress on the hose assemblies between the self-advancing roof shields Compactness: fits in virtually every corner. Gates helps you to improve both safety and productivity by introducing the new ilok coupling that retains the simplicity of staple-lock couplings but locks out the inherent limits of its design. This often results in workers mistreating hoses and couplings, endangering themselves and the equipment. Traditional staple couplings become deformed and corroded, making it extremely challenging to replace damaged hose assemblies or to disconnect roof shields. Safe productivity Circumstances in longwall mines are harsh on miners and equipment alike. Still readily available in the German market.3 ilok COUPLING THE WORLD OF COUPLINGS MAXIMISES OPERATION UPTIME ilok is Gates answer to the traditional staple-lock coupling, specifically designed to increase safety and substantially reduce downtime when disconnecting and reconnecting the coupling, a key challenge when moving and re-assembling in longwall mining. It’s a good example of fresh, bright, modern whisky. While the Liquid Treasures releases was a bolder and more interesting choice, this offers more simple pleasures. Also cookie dough, nougat and mixed nuts towards the end.įinish: long, with sweet barley, stronger wood spice and creamy vanilla. Mouth: a nice oily texture with sweet maltiness, lemon candy, grapefruit peels, vanilla custard and icing sugar. Barley water and freshly crushed mint leaves too. Then a little white pepper, as well as some green twigs and hints of ferns. Nose: much cleaner, with a more classic mix of fruits (lemons, oranges, unripe bananas), light vanilla and a decent oaky kick. Sold out at eSpirits but still available from a few partners.įettercairn 10 yo 2011 (54,6%, Best Dram 2022, first fill bourbon barrel #800355, 220 btl.) Not a crowd-pleaser – it would have been educational to get some information about the sherry cask. A late hint of caramel sweetness appears.Ī rather unconventional Fettercairn, with a slightly austere side and an uncommon combination of flavours. ![]() A faint salty edge as well, maybe Fino or Manzanilla?įinish: medium, some zesty citrus now. Green and leafy, with echoes of cardboard and hardly any fruits. Some grassy notes, with leathery dryness and some pungent mustard notes again. ![]() Mouth: lots of white pepper now, with fruit eau-de-vie, apple seeds and a vegetal side. It remains fairly bright, with hints of sweet lemon and honeydew in the background. Funnily there are hardly any classic sherry notes like dried fruits. Sweet mustard, green leaves and hints of coffee beans. Nose: a few pencil shavings up front, as well as freshly opened packs of matchsticks. Today we’re investigating a 2009 from Liquid Treasures and a 2011 by Best Dram.įettercairn 12 yo 2009 (53,7%, Liquid Treasures ‘Winter Edition’ 2021, refill sherry, 132 btl.) They often have a quirky side, just like the old core range bottlings in fact. On the other hand I’m still a little cautious when looking at independent bottlings. The core range Fettercairn 12 Year old and some of the Warehouse 2 batches are nicely balanced drams. ![]() I think Fettercairn did a good job upgrading itself in August 2018, generating new interest among whisky enthusiasts.
